The Road to BitBash: Kaiju Revue!


Here we are, on our way to the Kaiju Revue! With the Chi-Kaiju in tow, wreaking destruction on his path towards another showcase, we thought it would be good to put out one last dev diary before closing the book on the saga that has been 'Chi-Kaiju!!"

We've spiced the game up with a handful of meaningful improvements and gameplay changes, including:

Gameplay

  • Potholes that cannot be destroyed. Avoid at all costs, as they're the one thing immune to the Chi-Kaiju's rage!
  • A lives system. After taking a certain amount of hits, the Chi-Kaiju will perish, only to emerge from the depths once again. After 3 deaths, it will be game over, and you'll have to restart from the beginning.
  • Beefy obstacles. Trucks will take 2 hits to destroy, so plan your moveset wisely to prepare for these imposing roadblocks.

Art & Design

  • Updated environment art. The world has a more apocalyptic, annihilated atmosphere to it. Fitting, as the city is slowly demolished by the Chi-Kaiju's path of destruction.
  • A brand new, animated main menu with extra reactivity! The Chi-Kaiju will slam the ground in anger as the game begins. Fire rages behind him, with all it's moving glory. Stationary fire isn't very exciting!


Sound

  • Brand new sound effects for all of the new gameplay mechanics, including the new main menu.

We're super excited to give Chi-Kaiju one last hurrah at BitBash's event, and hope that he'll encourage a battle for top score as much as we saw at Indie City Game's AllStars Jam showcase back in July.
